Day 1 arrival Moscow
You will arrive in Moscow and be picked up at the airport and brought to your hotel. During the day you can explore the city (depending on the flight times). Be sure to walk through illuminated Moscow in the evening. A breathtaking sight and you will be amazed at how much there is to do in lively Moscow.Day 2 Moscow
Today you start exploring Moscow with a guided city walk to get a good introduction to the Russian capital.It is very nice to explore the city centre while walking. You will pass the Red Square, St. Basil's Cathedral, GUM department store, Lenin's mausoleum, Bolshoi theatre, Tverskaya street).
Of course we recommend a visit to the kremlin, where the heart of power in Russia lies. Many cities in Russia have a kremlin, a fortified settlement where both the rulers and the religious leaders are based. The kremlin in Moscow is of course the most famous kremlin in Russia and a must-see during your visit to Moscow. (note; there are different tickets available to visit the kremlin, depending on how many sites inside you prefer to see). The visit to the kremlin itself is not included in the tour!
Day 3 Moscow
A day to explore Moscow by yourself. Recommended visits are the Tretyakov gallery with its world famous collection of icons, or the Novodevich monastery, one of the most famous in Russia.Of course you should make a trip by metro, one of the highlights of a visit to Moscow. Many stations are sights in themselves and will take you back to the communist past. You can also do endless shopping in Moscow, or enjoy a delicious meal in one of the many top restaurants. Or just stroll down the street and let Russian city life affect you.
Day 4 Moscow - Vladimir - Suzdal
In the morning you will leave for Vladimir, an old capital of Russia. This is one of the larger cities along the Golden Ring. You will make an excursion along the Uspenski Cathedral, the Cathedral of St. Demitrius and the Golden Gate.At the end of the afternoon you will leave for Suzdal, perhaps the most beautiful of the cities along the Golden Ring. Here you really get the feeling that you are walking in medieval Russia. Around the Kamenka River are many ancient monasteries, churches, but also the characteristic izbas (wooden houses).
Day 5 Suzdal - St. Petersburg
After breakfast you can continue your exploration of Suzdal. Walk through the historic city centre, visit the kremlin from the 11th century, the 19th century marketplace (Torgovaya plosjad) and various monasteries.In the afternoon you will return to Moscow, and in the evening you take the night train to St. Petersburg.
Day 6 St. Petersburg
In the morning you will arrive at the train station of St. Petersburg.In the afternoon you will make an excorted city walk through the historic centre.
You visit the Nevsky Prospect with its cathedrals and palaces of Russian nobility. You will pass the Kazan Cathedral, the magnificent Blood Church, and the Mikhailovsky Palace.
The tour will end at the world-famous Hermitage museum. This museum you can visit by your own means. Don't forget to see the winter garden.
After the Hermitage it's lovely to take a stroll along the Neva River and go across to the Vasilevsky Island, where the history of St. Petersburg began. In the evening you can enjoy good food in one of the many restaurants on the Nevsky prospekt.
Day 7 St. Petersburg
A second day to explore Saint Petersburg. Why not go search for the Soviet past. Many buildings. statues and squares are great reminders of the soviet legacy in St. Petersburg.Or make a tour around the memories of the Second World War, or the Great Patriotic War as it is called here. This war, with the long siege of Leningrad had a great impact on the city and it's population.
Or make an excursion to one of the palaces outside the city, Peterhof, Pavlovsk or Pushkin.
St. Petersburg got enough to keep you busy for days!
